Very friendly, clean, helpful & great for 1-2 days relaxing
We stayed at Boteti Camp for 4 nights in early October and were very positively surprised. After all the slightly poorer reviews, we were a bit skeptical at first, but we can't really understand the criticism after our visit. We were completely happy - the tents, the pool, the lapa, the paths between the tents and also the way to the camp were very clean and well maintained. The river unfortunately had no water at the time of our visit - but that is nature. The food was delicious, it was also specifically addressed to our wishes and also packing lunch packages in the morning at 4:30 was absolutely no problem at all. We also booked a one-day riding safari - everything was super organized here and we had a great day. From the departure to the return trip everything worked out without any problems. we will definitely come back ☺️

Staff is helpful, room is good and clean. I know we are in Botswana and I don’t expect air conditioner for rooms because electric power is from solar panel.
I hope hotel can keep in mind one very important thing: don’t supply spaghetti made of yuca, for many people including us, this yuca will cause severe food allergy, which lasted for two days.

Robbed here our first night.
We had one night here on our way out of Maun. We got robbed that night while camping at this lodge. They broke into our safari vehicle while we were sleeping and stole laptops, cameras, and cash. All of this happened while the "security" staff was working and we were the only guests at the place. While filing a police report in Maun we learned that a similar robbery had happened 3 months ago. Additionally as many as 5 robberies have happened here in recent times according to the Deputy Inspector that we interacted with at the Maun Police Department. His theory, as he was taking our statement, was that the security staff was actually involved.
Lots of people start their safari out of Maun, I would recommend that if you have to overnight close to town then stay at a motor lodge in town behind a fence with a real guard on duty. Or get as far away from Maun as you can on your first day and camp there. Our robber walked into the camp and then walked back out to the tar road where his tracks disappeared. Maun seems to be a busy place in terms of crime. The two visits we made to the police station while reporting this issue allowed us to see a department stretched thin by the sheer numbers of people coming in for help with one issue or another. As we are foreigners and only lost material possessions we weren't given a lot of attention. No resolution came of this despite the police knowing who was responsible for the robbery 3 months ago. At our 1 week follow-up visit they admitted to being unable to find him or any of our items. Our loss can be your warning. Go somewhere else.

Great stay
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The food was plentiful and good quality. Just be aware it is very cold in the morning but a hot water bottle was put in your bed at night and always fires burning. We went on a safari trip with Kay. He was awesome and had a great time. The only disappointment (and this had nothing to do with Boteti) was the helicopter ride over the Okovango swamps. Paid for 45 minutes, got 35 minutes and by a pilot who was perfunctory at best and the trip wasn't made special at all. Luckily there was some water as week before was none, and did see some animals.

Beautiful but dissappointing
Booked Boteti based on the images and the reviews on their website and booking.com. The website shows images of game drives, animals, water etc. It was extremely disappointing to arrive to find that the game was actually 2.5 hours drive from where we were, and the game drives incurred a very expensive fee. I feel that this was a misrepresentation on their behalf as this should be outlined on their website. That said, the staff and the accommodation facilities made up for the disappointment. They were lovely. More clarity would be helpful to guests as you get the impression you are right on the delta.
