Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian. In accordance with local tax laws, all Colombian citizens and resident foreigners must pay an additional fee of 19% VAT. This VAT supplement is not included in the accommodations rates and must be paid separately. To be exempt from this 19% VAT fee, guests must have a TP12 visa or a PIP3, PIP5, PIP6, PIP10, TP7 or TP11 stamp when entering the country. The exemption only applies to accommodations fees. The permit must be shown upon arrival. VAT is not automatically included in the total amount of the reservation. In accordance with Colombian law 679 of 2001, law 1,336 of 2009 and resolution 3,840 of 2009, child sexual exploitation is illegal. Therefore, all children between the ages of 0 and 17 must present a valid identification document and their birth certificate along with their parents' identification documents to confirm the relationship. If the minor is not accompanied by his or her parents, the adults accompanying him or her must have written authorization from a notary along with the aforementioned documentation.
For stays on or after January 1, 2023, residents of Colombia and non-residents staying 60 consecutive days or more will be charged a 19% national sales tax by the property at the time of stay. Travelers on a tourist visa will not be required to pay this tax. The tax may be charged where a room is shared by a taxable and a non-taxable guest.
