Outdated, scruffy and uncomfortable

The hotel was booked for me by my school in Thailand. It was a 3 night stay. They spoke no English which was acceptable as it was Laos but they were offhand and unprofessional. The hotel is in dire need of a facelift. The room was basic, an extremely uncomfortable bed, a hard chair, a small round table for me to try and work from and a noisy fridge. The electrics looked old and suspiciously dodgy. There was no provision for tea or coffee although they provided water. One light had no bulb and after going to the bathroom (this was ok) I closed the door only to find out later that it would not open. I had to get dressed again and seek help. There was no room service and no means of finding something to eat other than a few bags of crisps purchased in the lobby. I went out searching for a restaurant or cafe but there were none in the vicinity. Breakfast was quite frankly abysmal. Make your own toast (ok that’s fine), powdered coffee and powdered milk, undrinkable fruit juice (if that is what it was) and a small array of lukewarm Lao dishes. The only saving grace was the view from its 5th floor breakfast room.

We were not really welcomed, like, literally, there was no one to welcome us. The first room we were given had a lot of mosquitoes and we had no choice but to request for a room change. The second room was better but everything seemed worn and broken. The water heater works but we had to wait for about 2~3 minutes each time before it starts to kick in. When we checked out, we left the keys on the reception table. The staff didn't say anything to us - no thank you, nothing. It was as though we borrowed a room for the night, I mean, it didn't feel like a hotel experience at all.

Der Zustand des Hotels und der Zimmer ist gut, der Service sehr schlecht. Die Angestellten am Empfang konnten weder Englisch, noch versuchten sie in irgendeiner Weise zu kommunizieren. Das Zimmer war gut eingerichtet und sauber, allerdings waren einige Mücken im Zimmer.
