Horrendous!!!!!

I do not understand all the positive to reviews! This place is not good at all. I’m still here actually. Fortunately just for one night. I have been in Myanmar for a week and have had a string of just wonderful hotels and guest houses and this place was the most expensive and not just the worst hotel I’ve stayed in Myanmar, but it all the my travels throughout the world. $130 USD! The shower is filthy. There is mold around the caulking of the toilet. One of the cups in the bathroom had old toothpaste crust in the bottom! Eww! There are no lamps at the bedside. What hotel doesn’t provide a reading lamp? Fortunately they DID bring me one after they understood what I wanted. They do not speak English but I cannot fault them for that. It’s not an English speaking country so why should I feel so entitled as to expect them to speak English. I’m so happy I brought my sleeping bag. The bed didn’t look too bad but who knows. I’d rather be in my sleeping bag. The towels are surprisingly clean and pretty nice. Walls are beat up. It’s just truly so overpriced that I feel like I was robbed. If I had paid $40 I would have said, yea ok. But $130 is too much for this room even in the US or Europe. Please find somewhere else to stay.

Beautiful property and kind staff but poor management of problems.

I booked two nights at Palms Springs in Myitkyina. It's definitely a higher price than I would normally pay, but I was traveling with friends. Overall, I liked this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was kind and helpful. I would have recommended the hotel up until the time of check out. When I checked in, I explained I had booked on Travelocity. They said, "Oh, online booking", appeared to look at a paper, and then handed me a key. When I checked out, however, they asked me for payment. I showed them the booking confirmation that said I had paid online. They insisted they have no relationship with Travelocity and that I needed to pay in cash. My original booking cost $194, but they charged me $200 and charged me an artificially high exchange rate. So, the second payment cost about $12 more than the first. Now, I have to try to get my money back from Travelocity. So, at this point, I will no longer stay at this hotel or recommend it to my visitors like I have done in the past.

A tranquil hotel within easy reach of attractions

A gem that's all I can say .
The river view bungalows were a little dated but clean although drafty .
The wifi was touch and go but fast in the lounge area .
The river views were so peaceful and relaxing .The hotel staff super helpful and friendly.
Meals were surprisingly tasty and well prepared and typically huge .
( On the return journey we booked a superior deluxe room above the entrance and it appeared to be recently refurbished , very large clean and had great wifi .The gardens were well kept and security was good .
Definitely would book this hotel again if in the area.

Great place to stay

We were catching up with a 1/2 Kachin friend in Myitkyina from the UK. She was born in Kachin State. I booked resort on-line and it proved to be an outstanding choice. The hotel is right on the bank of the Arrawaddy River. We stayed in the main building but there are separate bungalows available as well. The breakfast was plentiful and well presented and cooked. The staff were also extremely pleasant and and professional although some had limited English. The maitre in the breakfast area was very friendly and efficient and towards the end of our stay was happy to give us cheek.
