Fortunately reception allowed a last minute extension of my stay to allow my friend to pick me up in the afternoon.

Forget it not worth the effort
Arrived after hours and showed my booking confirmation and payment
Showed my NSW digital drivers License - just like I have done checking in several hundred times in hotels around Australia in the last few years
The night manager said "No must have Passport or driver's license!"
I said This is a drivers license a digital issued by the state government, and had Medicare id as well
I didn't have my wallet and explained nowhere on the confirmation did it state I needed this as a condition of entry
Abruptly he says "No must have card - see! everyone knows" pointing at a printed notice on the counter. Then he just left and locked up reception!
Its after midnight now - I went to the Oaks hotel, down the road checked in and paid without a fuss
The thieving manager now refuses to refund the payment.
DO NOT TRUST THIS ESTABLISHMENT there are nicer places nearby with staff that do care
There are other reviews of them with holding money unlawfully
